Extra Curricular Clubs

At Elmhurst we offer a wide selection of activities, both sporting and creative. These are very much enjoyed by the children and are an integral part of school life.

Our sports teams take part in local leagues, playing matches on a regular basis. We often have children who compete at County and National level and we are very proud of our sporting achievements.

SPRING TERM CLUBS

After school clubs will start again after half term. Unfortunately, and for many reasons, we are having to do things differently. Some clubs will be run by school staff and other clubs will be run by external providers. All clubs will incur a cost. School run clubs will run for 5 sessions at £1 a session, payable upfront. External providers will charge their own rates – please see below for more information.

All clubs will start during the 1st week: Monday 8th January and will run for five weeks

School run clubs:

All clubs will run from 3.15 to 4.15 for 5 weeks and will cost £5, payable on the first session.

No refunds will be given if a child fails to attend a club. Staff leads will ensure that 5 sessions take place. Parents will be expected to meet their children at the classroom. No child will be allowed to leave the room unaccompanied. Please do not expect your child to be collected in the car park.

Sports at Elmhurst

Elmhurst has a full and varied programme for PE. The children get 2 curriculum sessions per week of a wide variety of games and athletics, also including gym and dance during the winter and swimming in the summer, at Greenbank pool.

We also have some very successful school teams and we endeavor to enter all of the local tournaments. Our football team play in the local schools league and have also qualified for the county schools final. We also play in the local school's netball league.

Cross country is very well supported at the school and we have a large squad of children who compete each month in the Mendip Area Cross Country League.

We also have children regularly competing in biathlon and biathle and have qualified for the national school's finals for the past 3 years. We also boast the current south west school's boys u10 biathle champion.

We also enter rounders, rugby, athletics( we are the current mini olympic champions), cricket, cyclo cross, badminton, tennis, hockey, swimming, gymnastics and trampolining.

These are subject to change though.

We have been a prominent force at the last 2 Somerset School Games and hope to continue this.
